Appraiser Training and Certification

The Board of Equalization (Board) is responsible for the certification of county assessors' personnel and Board personnel who perform appraisals for property tax purposes, including either providing or approving training programs designed to improve or maintain an individual appraiser's competence in the field of appraisal. Generally, an appraiser for property tax purposes is a person employed by the state or a county who renders value judgments for ad valorem property tax purposes. In order to perform the duties of such an appraiser, the person must be certified by the Board which includes both an initial qualifying examination and a continuing education requirement.

Below are links to information relevant to certification requirements and training available to property tax appraisers. Please note: the forms included below are only for use by county assessors' staff and organizations requesting approval for courses and other training provided to certified property tax appraisers.
